IIIIII SSSSSSOOOOOOOLLLLLLLDDDDDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ahem. Not that I'm, y'know, totally thrilled about it or anything.
Samhain Publishing e-mailed me last night and offered to publish Dude, aka Not Quite Dead. It shook me so badly that I couldn't even talk for a while. And that never happens.
I'm still a little foggy, to be honest. Suddenly, things have become complicated. Details, never my forte, are looming large. Still, I have confidence things will work out. I told a few Romance Diva friends and let it out on eHq over at Struggling Writers.
It's just so strange. I had such trouble writing anything until I wrote Dude. I finished the rough draft in four months, then sat on it for almost two years. I pulled it out after RWA last year, cleaned it up (obviously not quite enough!) and started submitting.
I'm just floored.

Sometimes the most amazing things hit us broadside... When we've been so used to failure and putting ourselves down, it's quite a shock to find someone else only wants to uplift us.

Had to smile at your "foggy" place and the calm thing. I did EXACTLY the same thing. Eerily calm. About 2 hours after I got the e-mail, I said the words to a friend at church - I sold a book - and then I was just floored. It FINALLY hit me!

I am not surprised by this, Miss Sela. I can't think of anyone who deserves it more than you do. I hope that the details are a breeze, the warm "sold" feeling lasts for days and that everyone gives you big congrats hugs. After hanging with you when you sent your writing off and knowing it was difficult for you, I am soooo glad you sold.
